Phoned in storylines. Cringeworthy dialogue. A black man in a goddamn dress." All (except the last thing with the dress) are also true of the Judd Apatow movies as well. What I've observed about Tyler Perry movies is that black critics of his work - not necessarily you - seem to think the success of the images he portrays reflect on black culture as a whole and are therefore harmful. I don't find anything wrong with his movies and I respect those who do, but I disagree when people take this approach to criticism. We don't judge other whole races from their movies. For example, white people don't get up in arms about their portrayal in Judd Apatow movies. I think black people should relax the same way. Either like something or don't, but don't make it so personal.Alexisnbrownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12647636174647519275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9807422.post-19647017575843628852009-10-22T15:05:59.717-07:002009-10-22T15:05:59.717-07:00The Tyler Perry phenomenon remains completely bewi...The Tyler Perry phenomenon remains completely bewildering to me. I keep reading gushing reviews of his movies -- in respectable publications! Are they watching the same movies that I'm strenuously avoiding?

Oh, and as far as the Fox News bullshit goes, as you say, high ratings don't equal quality content. It just means that we really are a nation of gullible Lowest Common Denominator motherfuckers.murderatorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09892459759049547713noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9807422.post-19712119350204893512009-10-22T13:18:58.286-07:002009-10-22T13:18:58.286-07:002 points nailed. You've also hit on the under...2 points nailed. You've also hit on the underpinning of the healthcare "debate". Some people REALLY think, that if you don't have healthcare coverage it's because you didn't work hard enough or you didn't earn it. This countries' obsession with financial success = accomplishment is tired and old. Most of the time, "successful" people are just in the right place at the right time. IE- Tyler Perry and your crappy rappers.

As far as the FOX point, couldn't have said it better myself, that is the strategy and it's well played by Obama's Whitehouse. The only problem is there will be a return of the serve eventually where FOX tries to matyr themselves, and some news agencies will come to their defense. Next move after that? That's when it gets tough.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9807422.post-9967353750295998312009-10-22T13:10:23.746-07:002009-10-22T13:10:23.746-07:00Thank you for talking sense. Money is the king so if you have it-you rule.
