Randy Moss.. Don't feed the Black Man!!

The past few months, watching the sports media, I have noticed one specific thing. That the media latches on a African American athlete and for a few weeks at a time labels him "Satan". It started with Kobe Bryant, we all know that many of his problems were self inflicted so a bit of media scrutiny was expected and deserved. I was just surprised at the level of scrutiny the media put upon Bryant, you would of thought they had found a dead body in his back yard or something. It was ridiculous. It got to the point that you actually have Nas thinking he is calling somebody out on his song "Coon Picnic". Listen, a lot of what Nas is saying in the song is relevant, and Nas is one of my favorites, but the song came out a year and a half after constant bashing. From both Black and White. Nas, your song is far from a news bulletin. By the way, didn't you once do a song with Ginuwine? The mere fact that I can't get the line "Yeah owe me back like you owe your rent" out of my mind makes me want to beat your ass. Before you criticize, think about THAT song..

Then you had the Ron Artest situation. I admit that what he did was wrong, he should of never gone on the stands. But the media coverage concerning it was downright embarrassing. There were commentators that called him a "animal", wanted him banished from the league forever, and ESPN went the extra mile and asked his High School and College coaches about his mental stability. To me it just looked like a guy who lost control after being hit with a cup of ice, give me a fucking break..

Recently, the "Crazy Negro of the moment" is Randy Moss. Moss has a history of misbehavior, and him walking off the field a couple of weeks ago was totally unacceptable. But the media coverage last week of his endzone dance where he mock mooned the crowd was sadly hysterical. Joe Buck, who was the announcer of that game for Fox Sports showed his outrage, and called the incident "disgusting. When I turned to ESPN, the studio analysts were acting like Moss had pulled his penis out in front of a bunch of nuns. Calling it "classless", saying that Moss should be suspended, and Michael Irvin said that Moss was a "bad Guy" and could never imagine being his teammate. Wait a minute? Michael Irvin?? Michael "Coke and Whores" Irving?? Michael "I singlehandedly brought down the Cowboys because I was a drug addict" Irvin?? You have got to be kidding me.. People in glass houses, right??

I know Moss is the furthest thing from a role model, but the hysteria is laughable. Moss' endzone celebration, in my opinion, is tame compared to when Brett Favre does the mock "throat slash" to mock the opposing team. Moss' endzone "moon" was a lot less dangerous than the helmet-to-helmet hit that Denver Broncos safety John Lynch put on Indianapolis Colts fullback Dallas Clark a couple of weeks back. Both of those things weren't covered half as much as Moss' endzone celebration.

In closing, there is something weirdly refreshing about Moss. In a interview, when asked about if he thinks his coach is a right fit for the team, he said "I don't know if Mike Tice is right for the team, or wrong for the team." Something you don't get from a athlete, honesty. Like it or not, think he is a bad guy or not, I find it refreshing that a athlete doesn't say the same boring cliche things.

I think the media really wants us to live in a state of fear. "Fear of a Black Planet" as it were. I would really like to see a breakdown of the news broadcasts to determine the percentage of televised negative time devoted to each race. I know when I watch the news it seems like they want to demonize the (I hate to use the word) minorities. Fake mooning beats murder because of the color of the skin. Don't get me wrong, I think it was a shade disrespectful, but it got blown way out of proportion. You are absolutely right.

Also, which porn star. I want to know how many times I've jerked it to her. Just kidding.

I had similar thoughts on these events this week especailly when I heard that Fox refused to show the replay of the fake mooning. Fox the paragon of christian and moral values with shows like who's your daddy and some of its other reality shows is not showing a fake mooning. hilarious!
didnt see michael irvings comments but yea he should be one to talk, lol

The truth is the world hates it when you are honest. Moss makes the mistake of saying of what everybody else is thinking. Some people don’t like that. The interviews they were showing on the shows this morning had me rolling. It went like this

Reporter: "Write the check yet, Randy?"
Moss: "When you're rich you don't write checks."
Reporter: "If you don't write checks, how do you pay these guys?"
Moss: "Straight cash, homey."
Reporter: "Randy, are you upset about the fine?"
Moss: "No, cause it ain't sh;;;;;;. Ain't nothing but 10 grand. What's 10 grand to me? Ain't sh;;;;;;; … Next time I might shake my d……."
Hell if he does it I will be sporting a Moss jersey come next week. LOL

The way that the media villifies black athletes just shows their resentment of the way that black athletes dominate almost every area of professional sports. It's that black dick shit that I'm always talking about on my blog. America loves the black dick, and hates the black dick at the same time (I'm using dick symbolically here). They pay it millions of dollars to entertain, then turn around, and call it "satan." It's all bullshit. Plantation luggage, as a girl of mine calls it. And Kobe, Ron, and Randy shouldn't sweat it at all 'cause they got the talent and money to trounce all the shit-talkin' mutha fuckas on the sidelines. Shit, there's no such thing, really, as bad publicity.

Personally I think Randy Moss is a d*ck. That being said I think you're right about the media blowing this moon thing out or proportion.

I find that most (not all) sports writers are latent racists anyway so they are just doing what comes natural.

Keep up the good work on your blog.

I think you're dead on with the whole "look, he's colored..let's attack" strategy the media employs. Whether it's Kobe, Barry Bonds or anyone else that doesn't kiss their ass - you've got it right.

Great blog, thanks for visiting mine!

I completely agree! The media does go completely overboard. I don't even believe the whole thing with Moss was all that bad. Yes, it was a bit tasteless but honestly, I'm always waiting to see what a football player will do next after making a touchdown. It's all in fun and entertainment if you ask me.
As far as Kobe, I can't stand him and have always felt that way buat the media did go overboard with that as well. How many "white" rapists are there out in the world that haven't gotten even half of the scrutiny as Kobe? And some of them are serial rapists at that but still don't get anywhere near as much attention. Now I know, naturally because Kobe is famous there's going to be more coverage but look at the situation with the so-called rape "Kobe" committed as opposed the the PROVEN rapes of serial rapists get little or no coverage. I know it may sound like I'm stuck on the whole rape thing and I've started rambling but my whole point is... there are tons of real "animals" in the world and a lot of them are white. (I'm not racist by the way- I am mixed) But it's always the small shit a black person does that gets the attention, scruitny, and dramatization.

If Brett Favre had actually bared his ass Fox would have tried to get it bronzed and the NFL would have switched from the Lombardi trophy to the "Brett Favre bare ass" trophy.

Now imagine if Terrell Owens had signed Moss' ass with a sharpie...

LOL, i'm sitting here crackin up, you are so damn funny! i always thought the same thing about that Nas song, "owe me back like you owe your rent". i can't believe you went there. and michael irvin too, that was good. LOL
but really, you're so right. the media has a way of blowing things out of proportion to the point where it becomes laughable. it's so sad that the desperation for ratings causes those desperate measures

I wanted to respond to your comments about Nas and his song "Coon Picnic." Nas is calling out not only Kobe, but other celebs that have been "used as an example." Nas sarcastically calls out Cuba Gooding and Tiger Woods. Back to Kobe and the embarassing basketball player, it is true that they have been used as an example. So what about Nas's song "You owe me?" who cares this has nothing to do with the acts that Kobe and Ron have made to give the white man a reason to talk. What about other artists who are constantly critizing women. "Fuck em, leave em cuz I don't fuckin need em"' -Jay-Z-

Thanks for your comment Theresa, your thoughts are always appreciated. The reason that I brought up Nas' song "you owe me" is because it is a prime example of people making mistakes, and that was one Nas made. I love Nas but that song is a historical disaster, definitely a Hip Hop blunder on Nas' part. Plus, I don't really see how Kobe Bryant was a "coon" exactly? Because he snitched on Shaq? Ok, that was foul but the media's main dig on Kobe was that he "wasn't street" so don't get upset when he doesn't do something that is streetwise. How about Shaq and all those movies he made where we was acting like a modern day step-and-fetchit? Kazaam?(He might as well wore blackface in my opinion) To top it all off Kobe was a victim of blatant racism, if he wasn't accused of raping a white girl the coverage wouldn't have been that extreme, and Nas got wrapped up in that by making a song that didn't make any sense to me. I find it embarassing on Nas' part that he doesn't know his history, and I love Nas. Emmit Till was castrated, stab, shot, and drowned because he whistled at a white women years ago. The media treatment that Kobe got is nothing but a modern day version of Emmit Till, attacking Bryant because he was with a white woman, that simple. Totally irresponsible on Nas' part. Kobe gives millions to black charities yearly, and gives scholarships to black youths, come on Nas you gotta do better than that. Kobe is such a easy target, that the media has served on a silver platter, its downright cowardly to even go there on a certain level.
