Rant of the Day
I know that people can do whatever they want with their blog, and I would never tell somebody what to do. Listen, I have no problems with the owner of a blog making comments on their own post, addressing people and their comments. Hell, I have done that on several occasions. But the one thing that irritates me is when you go to someone's blog and you see that they have like 40 comments on their post. You figure, "Cool, I want to see what people were saying about this particular piece." But when you get there you see that the 32 of the comments were made by the owner of the blog himself/herself. I mean come on, couldn't a handfull of comments addressing people be enough? But then again I would never tell people what to do on their blogs, maybe I should mind my business.

I'm not sure why this bothers you so much, but I've seen including myself, have back and forth discussions on my blog when people comment on an issue I feel passionate about. If someone is passionate about what they are saying, then I could easily see this happening.
It can get annoying.. First of all you admit that you sometimes comment on your blog so you are not dissing it as a whole. But certain comments don't need to be addressed, especially if they are comments simply agreeing with you. Why have 14 posts where you say "@So and so- Thanks" Come on. But that is your personal pet peeve, you have the right to express such.
I normally do a wrap-up, where I hit up everybody in one comment. Sometimes, I'll attach my reply to their comment. Saves space. I don't like "empty comment numbers" either, which is what I consider it when I'm replying.
Really, when I see like a hundred zillion comments, I don't read them anyway. Don't have that kinda time. I'm there to comment on the post more than anything, so that's what I do. *shrug*
I like that Yolanda, "empty comment numbers". Can I use that? You can tell that some people respond legitimately to thei commentors, and others just want to boost their comment numbers by responding to every little thing. There is a blogger that I go to who does that, dude needs to stop.
LMAO who really cares? nobody not really. --alicia keys
I can relate to that. Personally, if I think it's gonna get that deep, I can always make my thoughts on that another post. But like you said, you can't tell folks what to do in their blog...no matter how weird it may seem.
I just find it funny that you made it clear that this was a personal pet peeve of yours. You even made it clear that it was just a random observation, and that maybe you should mind your business. But then you have people who didn't really read the points you made and express stong opposition to it. Why respond to it then? *sigh* But I feel you though.
sheeeet. I want to be like you an average of 25 comments a day... so YES i post comments on my own blog.... lol. and i still don't get anywhere near what you do.
a wise man once asked -- is it better to blog with no comments or to comment on your own blog?
for the rest of us, you know -- those of us with no comments -- are jealous, btw
i never new people would sink so low. gosh, is blogging that serious these days? Lmao!
Blogging is serious for anyone to post every day, why not? Plus, HC was just giving his personal opinion on the matter..
I have to admit that I sometimes judge a blog by the number of comments. Someone who consistantly has a zillion comments must have something very interesting or entertaining or compelling to say.
Now my wife thinks blogging is for wierdos. She don't even read mine. She also thinks anyone who would actually respond and post a comment is even wierder. So she'd think that someone who is peeved by someone who responds to blogger comments is ...well, I just won't tell her that one. But I'm with you.
hey man. i never said this but i was happy when you commented on blog.
but to reply on my blog is something i dont really have the energy to do
I'm always surprised when I get lots of comments on my blog, and I do like the rest of the guys do, just do one wrap-up at the end. I think I read more than I write, but that's beside the point. Blame it on ADD, somethin'.
Mind your own business ;)
Im a replyer in my own comments o, but I do that only because people have taken the time to respond to oen my posts, I like to acknowledge what they have said.
Great site, I am bookmarking it!Keep it up!
With the best regards!
