Goodbye Reggie

I'm not going to sit here and front, I spent about 80% of Reggie Miller's 18 year career rooting against him. Also, I admittedly wanted the Pacers to lose against the Pistons, only because I feel that Detroit has a better chance to beat Miami and that 300 pound bitch named Shaquille O'Neal. But after I saw how his team, because of his leadership, was able to advance so far despite having lost one of their best players for the entire season, I have to give Miller props. Plus the guy had ice in his veins when it came to shooting the rock. I never saw a guy that could go 0 for 13 in a game, and still shoot it as if he was on a shooting streak. His deadly three point accuracy was amazing, and his classic battles with the Knicks, and for the matter Spike Lee, was a definite sight to see. A person would also be hard pressed to see another player who works so hard on both sides of the ball. Even though he never was able to get a ring, he had a amazing career, and the fact that he is leaving the game as a still productive player is honorable. You had a good run Reg.

i must agree with you.. i was never and still am not a reggie miller fan. but dude had preserverance. i really liked how detroit's coach called a time out so that the crowd and everyone else in the arena could give reggie some recognition.

Finally someone else who can't stand....I can't even say his name but it rhymes with "Lucille". Yeah, Reggie was a good player, I'll never forget him making the choke sign to the Knicks bench.

i really couldnt stand Reggie Miller....especially when the pacer would play the Bulls...ugh...but yea, it's sad that he's leaving...he has got to be like one of the last players out of that era with MJ, Barkley, Pippen, and all of those other players....it's sad...the NBA isnt like it use to be...

Damn HC. You called Shaq a 300 lb bitch??? That was cold. But I outdid you man. I spent all of Reggie's career hating this fucker man. He killed my beloved Knicks, over and over and over again! But last nights sendoff was pretty impressive. A real class act. Folks were actually crying man.

Reggie definitely is unparalleled. I stopped drawing and actually clapped myself. I couldn't believe that. I don't want Miami to win either. Pistons all the way.

I've never been a big Reggie Miller fan (and yeah, I hated him whenever he played the Bulls...even the new Bulls of today) but he was a great player. He went out the way a player should go out, being productive but realizing that his time had ended (unlike poor MJ). His era is the first one that I grew up on and I'm a little sad to see it go.

For as long as I watched bball, I supportrd Reggie Miller. Why? because he was an obvious talent who provoked ire. I loved it!!

The man did what folks these days see as unfashionable, esp with the advent of free agency: he stayed with one freaking team.

18 years in the game and not even 40 years old, that is amazing. Reggie exhibited a passion for the game that was not fueled by money or endorsements or street/ghetto machismo that is best earned on a court. Reggie simply loved the game and it showed in his approach.

Peace Reggie... I liked you...and I'm a New Yawkah!

I REALLY hated that "flap you wings" thing he started during the finals against the Knicks. I also thought he bore a striking resemblence to Quark from Star Trek Deep Space Nine... definitely some relation there. LoL. All that said, the man was a class act. He's one of the last of that generation of players who came to play every day... for.the.love :)

Granted, I live in South Florida, but I feel you on that Shaq thing. I have hated him forever and since he moved here. All it's been is Shaq this and Shaq that. I know I might get hurt down here, but I have to say, I enjoyed seeing the Heat lose last night.

I was trying not to comment on all your other old posts that I wanted to comment on since I am so late but I couldn't resist. Let me say for the record I have the same sentiment about the pistons but I have been a fan of them since they traded for Rasheed mid last year for the reason I figured they were the only team I saw that would beat the Lakers and more specifically Shaq. But My sentiments about Reggie are much different. I have actually probably cheered more for Reggie than any other player in the N.B.A. Not harder just more. I have always supported the Pacers as they have always cinsistently matched up against teams I despised (The Celtics then the Knicks) in the playoffs. So I've been a Reggie fan for a long time. He is definitely the most clutch player in the game now and I would argue he is the second best if not the best clutch player of all time. I sya Jordan is because he had several clutch moments in the finals. But all that being said I was sad to see Reggie retire without getting to the finals once more because I've never seen someone perform so much higher than when the spotlight was on them as Reggie has.
